Director of Large Scale Regional Sales (Midwest)

SMA America is a purpose-driven leader in solar technology focused on utility-scale PV and energy storage solutions. We are hiring a Director of Large Scale Regional Sales (Midwest) to lead a remote regional sales team, own regional go-to-market strategy and revenue targets, manage complex utility-scale project sales, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive execution across the Midwest.

Skills

  • Proven experience selling utility-scale solar and energy storage solutions
  • Track record managing long, complex B2B sales cycles and large customers
  • Experience leading and mentoring sales teams with measurable results
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and executive-level selling
  • Familiarity with PPAs, grid interconnection, capital structures, and project financials
  • Proficiency with Salesforce (or equivalent CRM) and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel regionally (approx. 30–50%)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional go-to-market strategy for utility-scale solar, storage, and related services across the Midwest
  • Own quarterly and annual regional sales targets and ensure team attainment
  • Drive strategic engagement with utilities, IPPs, developers, and EPCs
  • Manage full sales cycle from lead generation through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution
  • Lead, coach, and develop regional sales team; set KPIs and conduct performance reviews
  • Ensure accurate pipeline and CRM (Salesforce) data and reporting
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Service, and Project Management to meet customer requirements
  • Provide market intelligence, represent SMA at industry events, and monitor regional regulatory and competitive activity

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or equivalent experience required
  • Relevant certifications or advanced degrees (MBA, technical masters) are a plus

Benefits

  • Base salary range $130,000–$180,000 plus variable compensation (typical $50,000)
  • Total target compensation approximately $180,000–$230,000 depending on experience
