Commercial Business Development Manager, West

Quantum-Si is a life-sciences company developing next-generation protein sequencing products. We are seeking a driven Business Development Manager – West to aggressively prospect, build pipeline, and close capital and consumable sales across academia, pharma, biotech and industry to accelerate adoption of our platform.

Skills

  • 4+ years quota-carrying outside sales with proven track record of meeting/exceeding targets.
  • Capital equipment sales experience in research/tools market, focus on proteomics or sequencing preferred.
  • Strong relationships and network within pharma, biotech and academic research organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in lead generation, outbound prospecting and pipeline management.
  • Mastery of Miller Heiman strategic and conceptual selling methodologies.
  • High travel tolerance (60–80%) and ability to optimize multi-stop trips for productivity.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; comfortable negotiating contracts and pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Aggressively hunt, identify, research and qualify potential clients across academia, pharma, biotech and industry.
  • Conduct proactive outbound prospecting: cold calls, targeted email outreach, tradeshows and regional events.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline of qualified opportunities and provide accurate forecasting.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to close capital equipment deals and grow consumable revenue.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts to secure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Nurture customer relationships with regular follow-up to drive adoption and long-term accounts.
  • Plan and execute travel (60–80%) to maximize in-person commercial productivity across the territory.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (life science preferred).
  • Graduate degree in life sciences strongly preferred but not required.
  • Relevant professional/sales training (e.g., Miller Heiman) preferred.
