Skills
- Extensive knowledge of high-voltage substation construction and components (foundations, buswork, breakers, transformers, control houses)
- Experience with EPC project estimating and scheduling for large substation projects
- Ability to assess constructability and develop efficient mobilization and sequencing plans
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn advanced construction/estimating software
- Strong understanding of safety standards and OSHA requirements (OSHA-30 preferred)
Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits to assess access, layout, constructability, and outage needs for high-voltage substation projects
- Identify project risks and recommend construction methodologies, sequencing, and schedules
- Develop and validate labor, equipment, and production rates for substation construction activities
- Provide detailed input on manpower, equipment, procurement strategies, temporary facilities, and outage requirements
- Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to align scope and execution readiness
- Participate in estimating meetings and prepare preconstruction deliverables and documentation
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, complying with safety and environmental policies
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Technical degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred
