Living Carbon is a public benefit company with a mission to fight climate change by transforming marginal land into high-value environmental assets. Our team specializes in restoring abandoned mineland and degraded agricultural land into diverse, thriving forests. We're backed by prominent investors including Temasek, Toyota Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Felicis Ventures, and YCombinator.
We are looking for a highly organized, conscientious, and collaborative Project Development Manager to join our Commercial team. This is a rare opportunity to join a climate company at an inflection point - we have proven our model and are now focused on scaling our project development motion into a portfolio of carbon projects making up a durable, financeable business. The person who succeeds in this role won't just manage projects; they'll help build the operational and commercial foundation that takes Living Carbon from early traction to institutional scale.
This person will serve as the operational backbone of our carbon project development pipeline - owning day-to-day project management, driving cross-functional workflows, and synthesizing project activities into investor-facing reporting. This role will report to our Chief Product Officer and work closely with teams across Forestry, Carbon Science, Finance, Land Partnerships, and Supply Chain. You don't need to be a forestry or carbon markets expert - we are looking for an exceptionally diligent operator who can learn our domain quickly, ask the right questions, and keep the team and our projects moving forward.
Serve as the primary project management lead across Living Carbon's active carbon project portfolio, owning timelines, milestone tracking, and cross-functional coordination to ensure projects advance toward financeability and registration
Build, manage, and continuously improve cross-functional workflows that connect our Forestry, Carbon, Finance, and Land teams around shared project development goals
Prepare and maintain structured project reporting, synthesizing field activities, milestones, and risks into clear materials for project finance partners and investor updates
Own and manage reporting deliverables to capital and project finance stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of project-level data and status updates
Identify blockers, surface tradeoffs, and drive decisions - bringing the right people to the table and keeping the team aligned on priorities
Develop a deep understanding of the project development lifecycle so you can represent the team's work confidently to external stakeholders
Continuously improve our internal processes, documentation, and project management infrastructure as we scale our portfolio
4-7 years of experience in project management, product management, product operations, consulting, or a generalist business role, ideally in a startup, growth-stage company, infrastructure, or climate-adjacent environment
Demonstrated track record of building and managing cross-functional workflows and keeping diverse teams aligned toward a common deliverable - you keep all the trains running on time
Experience preparing reporting or materials that synthesize complex operational activities for investors, project finance partners, or senior leadership
A business builder mindset - you understand how operational excellence connects to commercial outcomes and are motivated by the challenge of scaling something that matters
Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail - you are the kind of person who builds the system, not just follows it
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical or complex information into clear, actionable narratives for both internal teams and external stakeholders
Comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating structure where it doesn't yet exist
A collaborative, team-first orientation - you are energized by helping others do their best work, not just by doing your own
Mission-aligned and genuinely curious about carbon projects, natural climate solutions, and the challenge of developing high-integrity environmental assets at scale
Experience in carbon markets, natural resource management, environmental finance, or climate-related project development is a plus, but not required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, environmental science, economics, or a related field; MBA or graduate degree a plus but not required
This is not a typical project management job. You will sit at the center of one of the most ambitious reforestation and carbon removal programs in the country, with direct exposure to investor relationships, project finance, and the full arc of how carbon projects get developed, registered, and monetized. For the right person, this is a foundational career opportunity: the kind of role that sharpens your strategic instincts, builds your commercial toolkit, and puts you in rooms that matter. We are a small, high-trust team, and your work will be visible from day one.
