Our team is sharp, motivated, and deeply committed to the mission. We move fast, operate with intensity, and take real ownership of the problems we tackle — from early thinking to long-term outcomes. We stay close to our customers — from leadership to engineers — and work together to solve real problems with urgency and care. If you thrive in ambiguity, push for excellence, and want to help shape the future of work alongside others who raise the bar, we invite you to build with us.
At Harvey, the future of professional services is being written today — and we’re just getting started.
Harvey is transforming how the world’s best legal professionals work. As we continue to scale, we’re looking for a People Business Partner to support our Product and Design teams, based in San Francisco, with the potential to support additional technical orgs over time.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with Product and Design leaders to help them build and scale high-performing, high-ownership teams. You’ll work side-by-side with leaders as they navigate growth, evolve their org structures, and operate in an environment where priorities shift quickly.
This role reports to the Head of People Business Partners and works closely with leaders across the technical org as well as the broader People team. The right person brings strong judgment, can quickly build credibility with technical leaders, and is comfortable operating in a fast-moving, often ambiguous environment.
Partner deeply with Product and Design leaders
Work closely with leaders as they build and scale their teams, advising on org design, team structure, and how to operate effectively through rapid growth and change.
Coach and challenge leaders
Support leaders in navigating complex people and organizational decisions. Provide direct, thoughtful feedback and help raise the bar on leadership across the org.
Drive performance and accountability
Partner with managers on performance, feedback, and development, ensuring teams are operating at a high bar and addressing gaps quickly.
Navigate complex people situations
Handle employee relations matters with sound judgment, balancing empathy for individuals with what’s right for the team and the business.
Stay close to the work
Develop a strong understanding of how Product, Design, and Engineering teams operate, from how decisions are made to where friction exists, and use that context to guide leaders effectively.
Operate in ambiguity
Help leaders navigate shifting priorities, evolving org structures, and new problem spaces, bringing clarity where things are not yet fully defined.
Help scale how we work
Partner with the Head of PBPs and broader People team to evolve and implement practices that support high-performing technical teams.
6–10+ years of experience in a People Business Partner role, ideally supporting Product, Design, or Engineering teams.
Experience working with technical leaders - you understand how product and engineering organizations operate and can build credibility quickly.
Strong judgment and the ability to navigate ambiguity - you’re comfortable operating without perfect information and making decisions in real time.
Ability to influence and challenge senior leaders in a thoughtful and direct way.
Experience supporting org design, performance management, and team scaling in high-growth environments.
High emotional intelligence and strong communication skills, especially in complex or sensitive situations.
A pragmatic, no-drama approach - you focus on what works for the business and move things forward.
Ability to work from our San Francisco office at least three days per week.
$165,400 - $248,200 USD
