Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Production Engineering
Skills
- Deep production Kubernetes operations experience (100+ node scale)
- Strong programming ability in Go, Python, Rust, or Java to build production tooling
- Design and operation of observability stacks (metrics, logging, tracing) e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/EFK
- Hands-on cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure-as-code expertise
- Proven incident management, debugging of distributed systems, and reliability engineering practices
Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive monitoring, observability, and alerting across the Lattice platform
- Drive incident response, lead blameless postmortems, and implement systemic reliability improvements
- Build and maintain infrastructure automation with Terraform, Kubernetes operators, and custom tooling
- Define and track SLOs and error budgets to balance feature velocity with system reliability
- Partner with software teams to improve system architecture using resilience patterns (circuit breakers, graceful degradation, chaos testing)
- Develop capacity planning models and performance testing frameworks for growth and peak demand
- Create runbooks, documentation, and training to enable reliable operation of production systems
- Improve deployment safety via progressive rollouts, automated testing, and rollback capabilities
- Implement security and compliance controls for production environments handling sensitive defense data
- Participate in on-call rotations and serve as an escalation point for critical incidents
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Relevant industry certifications or equivalent hands-on experience considered a plus
