Role Overview

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain the backend systems that power Trovy's platform. In this role, you'll design and implement scalable APIs, optimize database performance, and contribute to our core infrastructure that handles financial transactions and user data. You'll work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other backend team members to deliver features that directly impact our users' experience. Beyond writing high-quality code, you'll participate in architectural discussions, mentor junior engineers, and help establish technical best practices within your team. This is an opportunity to make significant technical contributions while growing your expertise in fintech, distributed systems, and building products at scale.

What you’ll do

• Take the lead in designing, building, and testing core services and system components.

• Review code and designs to keep quality high and solutions scalable.

• Help shape the product’s technical architecture and long-term direction.

• Translate product requirements into clear user stories and solid technical implementations.

• Build and run highly available, scalable services in production.

• Partner with product, design, and fellow engineers to deliver features that make a real impact.

• Own key parts of our platform—from architecture decisions all the way to rollout.

• Champion clean, maintainable code with strong reviews and automated testing.

• Push for engineering excellence through performance tuning, best practices, and continuous improvement.

• Mentor teammates and contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation.

What you’ll need

• 4+ years of professional software development, with a focus on backend engineering.

• Strong experience with Spring Boot and Kotlin.

• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems.

• Solid knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and patterns for scaling backend systems.

• Ability to lead complex projects end-to-end and work closely with cross-functional partners.

• Excellent communication skills and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

• A strong sense of ownership—you see projects through from idea to launch.

• Love solving real-world problems and shipping valuable features over polishing for perfection.

• Experience working in a collaborative environment with pull requests, design discussions, and code reviews.
