Flight Software Engineer III
Skills
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
- Low-level device driver development and safety-critical systems experience
- Experience with embedded RTOS (e.g., RTLinux, Azure RTOS)
- Familiarity with embedded Linux
- Experience with common hardware protocols: Ethernet, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS422, RS485
- Networking protocols knowledge: UDP, TCP/IP
- Experience with version control and CI/CD concepts
- Strong debugging skills and familiarity with instrumentation and protocol analyzers
- Ability to obtain or maintain TS/SCI clearance (ITAR eligibility)
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, integration, and test of flight computer software for space missions
- Integrate complex GNC algorithms into flight software and validate performance
- Own and maintain Command Telemetry Database (CTDB) definitions for ground and on-orbit operations
- Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to ground C2 and systems teams
- Lead command scripting and sequencing efforts for spacecraft operations
- Design and implement satellite subsystem model simulators for HITL/SITL environments
- Develop and maintain reusable device drivers, interfaces, and communications protocol libraries
- Conduct code reviews, enforce flight software best practices, and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to flight software architecture decisions and technical trade studies
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master's degree in a related field (preferred)
