Skills
- Proven backend development experience (Scala preferred; Java/Ruby/C# acceptable)
- Strong JavaScript and React skills
- Experience with Postgres, Redis, and AWS-based infrastructure
- Familiarity with containerization and CI (Docker, CircleCI)
- Practical knowledge of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) and agent workflows
- Experience designing systems and APIs for scalability
- Async-first communication and strong written communication skills
- Experience building and scaling SaaS products
Responsibilities
- Architect, evolve, and maintain backend systems (Scala / Play, Postgres, Redis)
- Design and deploy scalable APIs and AI-assisted services
- Own features from ideation through production, collaborating cross-functionally
- Build frontend features using React, Chakra, Storybook and modern state tools
- Develop and maintain agent-driven development workflows and internal tooling
- Use Claude Code, Codex, and similar tools to accelerate implementation, debugging, and refactoring
- Create prompts, reusable engineering systems, and dev workflows to improve velocity and code quality
- Optimize performance across frontend, backend, and AI-assisted pipelines
- Define and evangelize best practices for AI-native software development
- Mentor and eventually lead a small team (2–3 engineers)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) is optional but welcome
