Senior Backend Engineer II - AI-Native, Devices Cloud
Skills
- 5+ years building and operating backend services in Java, Go, Python or similar
- Hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and integrating LLMs as development partners
- Experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context management, and function calling
- Strong microservices and RESTful API design skills
- Cloud infrastructure expertise (AWS preferred), containers, and production deployments
- Experience with streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis) and high-throughput ingest
- Proficiency with databases (relational and/or NoSQL) and caching strategies
- Observability and SRE familiarity (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, DataDog)
- Experience owning services in production and participating in on-call
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services for device connectivity, telemetry ingest, health monitoring, and command/control.
- Use agentic AI workflows to generate specs, code, tests, and assist in incident triage and root cause analysis.
- Define and codify AI-native engineering practices and playbooks for the Devices Cloud team and broader org.
- Collaborate with firmware, mobile, and product teams to design APIs and device-driven workflows.
- Build and own high-throughput data pipelines for telemetry streams (e.g., Kafka or similar).
- Deliver scalable, resilient microservices on AWS (EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, etc.).
- Instrument services for observability, reliability, and SLO compliance.
- Participate in on-call rotation and live incident response.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation, testing, and team engineering standards.
- Mentor teammates and help evolve the team's AI-native engineering culture.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Graduate degree optional but beneficial
