The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
The Office of Human Resources holds a broad spectrum of responsibilities that contribute directly to ACS' vision of offering comprehensive, quality services that empower children and families to thrive. ACS' Office of Human Resources' primary functions include developing and implementing the agency's human resources policies and procedures, recruiting, and hiring qualified candidates for open positions, providing onboarding and training to new employees, managing employee performance and compensation, and ensuring compliance with all applicable employment, civil service, and labor laws. In addition to our primary functions, the Office of Human Resources provides a variety of other services to employees, such as career development, employee benefits, and wellness programs. The Office of Human Resources also works in partnership with divisions to provide initiatives and services that nurture and develop an environment of employee empowerment, advocacy, and involvement in the organization while attracting and cultivating a diverse dynamic workforce.
ACS Employee Wellness is responsible for promoting a culture of wellness in the agency and encouraging the general health of all employees, their families, and the families we serve. The Employee Wellness Program delivers wellness and health programming to over 6000 staff in all five boroughs that is easily accessible, effective, and efficient in the workplace. The unit connects employees to City-wide services and resources so that they can take advantage of the supports available to them. We provide this programming through partnerships with stakeholders, The Office of Labor Relations (OLR) WorkWell NYC initiative which aims to empower City employees in the workplace with well-being health tools, workshops, and resources.
As an ACS Wellness associate, you will support ACS’ Employee Wellness Program team with implementation, delivery, and evaluation of health and wellness activities and events across multiple city office locations throughout the five boroughs. The Employee Wellness team works in collaboration with the Office of Labor Relations (OLR) WorkWellNYC initiative to support the health and wellness of ACS employees. Under the supervision of the Health & Wellness Program Coordinator, the Wellness Associates will travel to assigned sites throughout the five boroughs to conduct wellness programming, track participation, and report outcomes in alignment with agency goals and WorkWell reporting requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel to designated ACS office locations across the five boroughs to conduct and support health and wellness activities and events
- Assist with planning, coordination, setup, facilitation, and breakdown of wellness programs, workshops, and events
- Deliver wellness activities in accordance with agency Employee Wellness objectives
- Promote employee engagement with Wellness Ambassadors and Champions and encourage participation in wellness initiatives and build upon a culture of health across all sites
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional environment at all locations
- Ensure consistency in Employee Wellness programming delivery across city offices
- Track, document, and report wellness events, including staff participation numbers, attendance rates, and frequency of events
- Utilize reporting tools such as spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel), internal databases, and designated systems to collect and maintain accurate participation data
- Prepare regular reports to Wellness Coordinator summarizing participation metrics, trends, and site-level engagement for supervisory review
- Monitor participation levels and identify opportunities to increase engagement across locations
- Communicate site feedback, participation trends, and operational needs to Wellness Coordinator
- Collaborate with Wellness Coordinator, site leadership and agency partners as required
- Adhere to confidentiality standards, data integrity requirements, and workplace conduct policies
- Other duties as needed
This position would support the Wellness Coordinator in delivering required initiatives to ACS’ locations throughout the five boroughs. They would also track, document, and report wellness events, including staff participation numbers, attendance rates, and frequency of events. The role will work under and closely with the Wellness Coordinator to collaborate with site leadership and agency partners as required.
Preferred Skills
- Minimum of a bachelor's from an accredited college or university MPH, MPA or health graduate degree preferred
- At least 2-3 years of engagement, outreach, planning events and communication experience
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a team
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and project management.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with program monitoring and evaluation
- Previous experience working on wellness initiatives with employee wellness, community health, or public health preferred
- Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Photoshop and Canva
