The Team You’ll Work With:
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) was established in 1984 and incorporated into the New York City Charter in 2001 to promote the economic, civic, and social integration of immigrant New Yorkers, expand access to justice, and advance policies that strengthen immigrant communities across the city.

MOIA serves as a bridge between city government and immigrant communities by advising on and supporting the development and implementation of policies and programs that improve access to services for immigrant New Yorkers and speakers of other languages. The office partners with City agencies and community organizations to strengthen language access, expand equitable access to services, and advance initiatives that support immigrant communities citywide.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Senior Community Liaison plays a key role in strengthening MOIA’s connection to immigrant communities across New York City. This role leads community engagement efforts in assigned neighborhoods, ensuring that immigrant New Yorkers have access to accurate information, critical services, and meaningful opportunities to engage with the City government.

The Senior Community Liaison develops and maintains strong relationships with community-based organizations, faith leaders and houses of worship, schools and healthcare facilities, advocacy groups, and other trusted local partners. The role ensures that community insights inform agency priorities while also supporting the effective delivery of programs and services.

Working across MOIA teams and with City agency partners, the Senior Community Liaison helps translate policy and programmatic priorities into outreach strategies. The role also supports coordinated responses to emerging issues affecting immigrant communities and helps ensure that the City’s engagement is timely, responsive, and culturally competent.

Specifically, the Senior Community Liaison will:
- Lead community engagement efforts within assigned geographic areas, serving as a primary point of contact between MOIA and local stakeholders.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies that connect immigrant New Yorkers to City services and programs.
- Identify community needs, emerging issues, and service gaps, and provide recommendations to MOIA leadership.
- Support coordinated outreach and engagement efforts across MOIA teams and City agency partners.
- Contribute to rapid response efforts related to emerging issues affecting immigrant communities.

Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement and Outreach:
- Lead on-the-ground engagement efforts in assigned communities, ensuring consistent and meaningful presence.
- Develop and execute outreach strategies, including events, presentations, and community-based engagement activities.
- Represent MOIA at community meetings, events, and public forums.

Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with community stakeholders across sectors.
- Serve as a key liaison between MOIA and community partners, ensuring clear communication and follow-up.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships and expand MOIA’s reach within communities.

Program and Service Access:
- Support outreach for MOIA programs and initiatives, ensuring that information is accessible and culturally responsive.
- Work with internal teams and City partners to connect community members to relevant services and resources.
- Provide feedback on program implementation based on community experience and engagement.

Strategic Coordination and Insight:
- Monitor and report on community trends, concerns, and emerging issues affecting immigrant New Yorkers.
- Provide regular updates and analysis to inform agency strategy and program development.
- Support cross-team coordination to align outreach efforts with broader agency priorities.

Rapid Response and Issue Support:
- Support outreach and engagement related to emerging issues, including urgent or time-sensitive situations.
- Coordinate with MOIA teams and external partners to ensure accurate and timely communication to affected communities.

Flexibility and Additional Duties:
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as needed to meet evolving organizational priorities.
- Support agency-wide initiatives and special projects as required.

About You:
The ideal candidate is an experienced community engagement professional with a strong understanding of immigrant communities and the landscape of community-based organizations across New York City.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading outreach efforts, building relationships across diverse communities, and translating community needs into actionable insights.

They will be a strong communicator and relationship-builders with the ability to operate independently in the field while remaining closely aligned with agency priorities.

Specific Skills:
- You have strong community engagement and relationship-building experience.
- You know immigrant communities and community-based organizations in New York City.
- You have experience developing and implementing outreach strategies.
- You can communicate effectively with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- You have strong organizational and project management skills.
- You can identify emerging issues and translate community feedback into actionable recommendations.
- You can work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4+ years of experience working in community engagement, organizing, or a related field.

Qualifications

1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?

2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?

3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?

4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
