Low Voltage Estimator - Data Centers

Align is a global provider of technology infrastructure solutions seeking an experienced Low Voltage Estimator focused on data center and mission‑critical projects. The role will lead preconstruction pricing, scope development, vendor leveling, and risk analysis for ICT/ELV systems, translating drawings and specifications into complete, defensible estimate packages while supporting design‑assist efforts and procurement planning.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of low voltage/ICT/ELV systems used in data centers (structured cabling, security, monitoring)
  • Proven experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing defensible estimates
  • Ability to interpret telecom/ICT drawings, RCDD‑style details, and security plans
  • Strong vendor/subcontractor leveling, negotiation, and scope‑clarification skills
  • Effective written communication for scope narratives, assumptions, and clarifications
  • Organized project management skills to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore (preferred)
  • Awareness of data center requirements: redundancy, pathways management, phased turnover, accelerated schedules

Responsibilities

  • Produce conceptual through detailed low voltage estimates for data center projects, including budgets and GMP pricing
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and price typical data center LV scopes (structured cabling, backbone/horizontal/OSP, pathways, telecom rooms, racks/cabinets)
  • Build detailed scope narratives, inclusions/exclusions, assumptions, alternates, and clarifications
  • Solicit, level, and analyze vendor/subcontractor proposals; perform apples-to-apples leveling and gap analysis
  • Coordinate with engineering and operations to validate constructability, labor productivity, phasing, and schedule impacts
  • Support procurement planning for long‑lead items and prepare bid deliverables (estimate summary, risk register, manpower and hours, VE logs)
  • Participate in design-assist meetings with clients, designers, and trade partners to capture alternates and value engineering
  • Support change pricing and cost validation during execution as needed

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Technical certifications (BICSI RCDD, NICET) are a plus but not required
  • Demonstrable continuing education or vendor certifications in structured cabling/security preferred

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Professional development and training (including vendor/certification support)
  • Opportunities for career growth and cross-functional experience (client sites and regional offices)
  • Hybrid work flexibility and a collaborative, innovation-focused culture
