Senior Staff Software Engineer, Data Platform
Skills
- Extensive experience building and scaling distributed systems
- Deep expertise in at least two: storage systems, streaming platforms, or data lake/large-scale data processing
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB including replication, sharding, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with streaming/event-driven architectures (Kafka, Flink, or similar)
- Familiarity with large-scale compute engines and data lake technologies (Spark, Delta Lake, or equivalent)
- Proven ability to lead cross-team technical initiatives and define long-term architecture
Responsibilities
- Define and lead architectural direction across storage, streaming, and data lake platforms
- Design and guide implementation of distributed systems (database sharding, proxy-based query routing, CDC and streaming pipelines)
- Improve data freshness and reduce latency by evolving streaming and ingestion systems toward near real-time processing
- Partner with engineering leaders and cross-functional teams to align platform roadmaps with business needs
- Drive 0→1 initiatives to introduce new platform capabilities and shepherd them into production
- Mentor engineers, set technical standards, and elevate reliability, scalability, and performance practices
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in relevant field preferred but not required
