Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of 5–10 mechanical design engineers through design, analysis, test, and production
- Set team priorities and drive execution aligned to program schedule and milestones
- Define and implement best practices for avionics mechanical design, focusing on reliability and survivability of electronics
- Collaborate with electrical engineering to define component placement and evaluate thermal and vibration performance
- Coordinate with analysis teams on structural, dynamic, and thermal evaluations and iterate designs based on results
- Lead integration with manufacturing and test teams to enable rapid iteration and successful qualification
- Plan and oversee test programs (thermal, vibration, shock) for avionics hardware and validate requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (required)
- Advanced degree in engineering preferred but not required
