At Mixpanel, we are on a mission to help the world learn from its data and solve big problems.
Pros
The company is constantly getting better. This is happening because most teams are open to feedback and constantly looking for ways to get better. Leadership is continuing to be strong and leading by example. This is the most fun I've had and genuinely excited for the new year.Cons
None of the cons would be a surprise - still a startup so lots of change which isn't bad but hard.Unlocking data-driven insights is our superpower. Weâre invested in building a future where data is the catalyst to remove barriers, build community, level the playing field and cultivate understanding. Regardless of oneâs ethnicity, gender, age, identity, religion, national origin, thought, or experience, your story matters, and we believe in turning the power of owning the narrative over to our team members, customers and partners. We are all storytellers.
As the #1 analytics and engagement solution, our mission is to increase the rate of innovationâfor ourselves and the businesses we serve. Every day, employees around the globe are creating the best data analytics products to help some of the most influential startups and companies perfect their products and grow their businesses.
âAt Mixpanel, our team is our competitive advantage. We're building a culture where individuals are empowered to take ownership of efforts that directly impact the company as a whole." â Amir Movafaghi, CEO

Our Philosophy
Our people are the heart and soul of Mixpanel. Our vision is to make our People & Culture the reason why people join and build their careers at Mixpanel over the long term. That is why being responsive to employee needs and feedback and continuously maintaining the health and well-being of our employees and their families is so important to us.
People & Benefits
At Mixpanel, we embody an employee-first mentality, where we strive for growth, progress, and innovation while enabling our employees to live their best lives. We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that empowers flexibility and choice.
Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging
Our vision is to give the storytelling power of data to all. We are invested in building a future where data is the catalyst to remove barriers, build community, level the playing field, and cultivate understanding. In order to achieve our goals, we are committed to developing equitable opportunities that maximize the potential of every employee.
Work-Life Balance
At Mixpanel, we believe in enabling our employees to live their best lives which allows them to bring their whole selves to work. We put Employee Choice First which means you have the power to decide where you do your best work on a daily basis. We have in-office and at-home options and everything in-between.
Employee Resource Groups
In support of our commitment to Diversity & Inclusion, Mixpanel has 9 active Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Our ERGs are based on affinity groups and shared experiences. They play a vital role in building and fostering an inclusive workplace. These communities of Mixpanelers act as key culture carriers, facilitating peer support, connection, dialogue, and driving policy change at Mixpanel.
Scale & Complexity
Mixpanel is powered by a custom distributed database. This system ingests more than 1 Trillion user-generated events every month while ensuring end-to-end latencies of under a minute and queries typically scan more than 1 Quadrillion events over the span of a month. Over the last year, our inbound traffic has doubled. As our existing customers grow in volume and we add new ones, we expect this growth in traffic to continue.
Product Engineering
At Mixpanel Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) work closely in pods to define the product and experiences. We collaborate closely to create a vision for delightful and intuitive UX, then work to deliver the most impactful features for our customers. Engineers are encouraged to own key pieces of the product, maintaining them, and always advocating for improvements to make the user experience even better, adding to our growing shared components library and expanding our design system.
Our Stack
Across the layers of our stack we write code in Go, TypeScript, Python, and C/C . We build on battle-tested frameworks and technologies including Django, MySQL, Redis, Celery, Web Components, React, Kafka, and Spanner. We place a lot of value on automation and good operational hygiene, relying on best-in-class tooling like Kubernetes (on Google Kubernetes Engine), GitHub Actions, and Argo/ArgoCD to let our developers focus on building, not firefighting.
