Skills
- Knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, slope stability, and foundation design
- Experience with tunneling, microtunneling, seismic and earthquake engineering principles
- Familiarity with geotechnical modeling software (L-Pile, RSpile, Settle3D, Slide or similar)
- Field experience in logging explorations, instrumentation, and underground work
- Strong technical writing and report preparation skills
- Ability to coordinate with construction teams and perform site observation
Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical engineering and geological analyses and calculations
- Prepare and write technical engineering reports and documentation
- Plan, manage and conduct field explorations, sampling, geologic reconnaissance, and mapping
- Assign and oversee geotechnical laboratory testing and interpret results
- Use geotechnical modeling tools to perform deep foundation, settlement, seepage, and liquefaction assessments
- Coordinate construction observation, logging of explorations, and geotechnical instrumentation recording
- Communicate findings and design recommendations to project teams and clients
Education
- BS in Civil Engineering required
- MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred
- In process of obtaining or anticipating Professional Engineering (PE) licensure
