Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform
Skills
- Strong Python proficiency for backend services
- Experience building REST APIs with proper authentication and versioning
- Familiarity with web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar)
- Solid SQL skills and hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and operational reliability
- Experience with data pipeline tools (Airflow, Airbyte, Dagster) and dbt
- Observability: logging, metrics, alerting, on-call experience
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate)
- Experience designing for high-reliability, high-volume production systems
- Familiarity with event streaming (Kafka) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Pulumi) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs that serve data from Snowflake and other SQL subsystems
- Develop well-tested, production-grade Python services with solid API contracts, authentication, versioning, and error handling
- Partner with Analytics Engineering to expose modeled data (billing, settlement, finance) via reliable APIs
- Build internal tooling and services to enable self-serve access to data without writing SQL
- Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and promote engineering best practices
- Contribute to service observability: logging, metrics, alerting, and on-call practices
- Maintain and improve data pipelines (Airflow, Airbyte) that move data into Snowflake
- Contribute to dbt models, tests, and data quality improvements alongside Analytics Engineering
- Support data governance: access controls, lineage documentation, and data quality standards
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Formal education optional if equivalent production experience is demonstrated
