Skills
- Proven experience managing and growing engineering teams (coaching, hiring, feedback)
- Strong system design and technical judgment for low-latency, high-availability systems
- Networking and infrastructure expertise, including peering, connectivity, and capacity planning
- Player-coach mentality: able to unblock, review designs, and contribute hands-on when needed
- Experience operating production services with strict uptime and latency SLAs
- Experience or strong interest in payment processing and card network protocols
- Familiarity with Java, Python, or Kotlin and AWS or comparable cloud stacks
- Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
- Growth mindset and continuous improvement orientation
Responsibilities
- Ensure high reliability, low latency, and correctness for transaction processing interfaces and related services
- Lead delivery of features across authorization, clearing/settlement, disputes, and network integrations
- Own and evolve physical network peering infrastructure, ensuring connectivity, failover, and capacity
- Drive operational excellence: observability, incident response, on-call readiness, and reliability improvements
- Manage initiatives end-to-end from planning to launch while keeping stakeholders aligned
- Partner with Product and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and prioritize high-impact work
- Improve systems, processes, and documentation to accelerate new hire ramp and team efficiency
- Participate in and evolve the team's on-call rotation and incident processes
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred
- Advanced degree (MS) is a plus but not required; equivalent practical experience accepted
