Senior/Lead Backend Engineer

- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems supporting real-time energy data and operations
- Develop and optimize high-throughput data pipelines for processing large volumes of customer energy consumption data
- Create and maintain integrations with third-party systems through robust messaging and API interfaces
- Contribute to building a real-time “digital twin” of energy generation and demand for advanced analytics and decision-making
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to deliver high-quality features and improvements
- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of production systems
- Take ownership of backend architecture decisions and continuously improve system design and scalability
- Adapt quickly to evolving business needs and drive technical innovation across the platform
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a backend or software engineer, with a strong track record of delivering production-grade systems
- Ideally 2+ years of hands-on experience building scalable, high-availability backend services
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, data processing, and backend architecture principles
- Experience designing and implementing complex systems from the ground up
- Proficiency in modern programming languages and backend frameworks
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bonus: experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., AWS CDK), energy sector knowledge, or consumer-facing product development
