- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and GCP in performance-sensitive environments
- Deep cloud networking expertise: VPC design, hybrid connectivity, routing, traffic control
- Large-scale Terraform experience
- Experience supporting electronic trading or low-latency systems
- GCP IAM, Organization Policy, and multi-project governance knowledge
- Observability and monitoring (Cloud Monitoring/Logging/Tracing and cross-cloud stacks)
- Familiarity with exchange API security, WebSocket market data, and crypto-specific threats
Responsibilities
- Architect and operate cloud infrastructure supporting latency-sensitive trading systems across all desks.
- Design VPC and network topologies with explicit routing, isolation, and traffic control; collaborate on global network connectivity (Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, VPN, Transit Gateway).
- Define compute placement strategies including cluster placement groups and locality-aware scheduling.
- Build and maintain shared platform capabilities enabling reliable, self-serve infrastructure for engineering teams.
- Own FinOps visibility and cost optimization frameworks across trading and research workloads.
- Serve as primary escalation for cloud incidents, leading detection, response, and post-incident remediation.
- Define and own cloud-layer observability, monitoring, and alerting standards.
- Lead CME colocation-to-GCP migration planning and execution, ensuring continuity for latency-sensitive workloads.
- Design hybrid connectivity between colocation and GCP and extend Terraform IaC standards to GCP.
- Provide specialized design and operational support for the crypto desk: secure private peering, DDoS resilient perimeter, WebSocket feed management, and strict segmentation.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree preferred but not required; strong practical experience accepted in lieu of formal education
