Staff Wireless Systems Engineer (Waveforms)
Skills
- Expertise in modulation and demodulation techniques and forward error correction
- Knowledge of multiple-access and duplexing schemes (CSMA, CDMA, TDMA, FDMA, DAMA, etc.)
- Familiarity with DSSS, FHSS, Chirp Spread, OFDM, PSK, FSK and their link-level effects
- Experience with receiver front-end issues: AGC, frequency/phase correction, DC/IQ offset, equalization, ACI/CCI mitigation
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for waveform, network, and traffic simulation
- Experience with embedded DSP platforms (FPGA, GPU, ASIC) and software-defined radios
- Demonstrated algorithm design and implementation experience
- Ability to communicate technical results to non-expert audiences
- Familiarity with commercial and military wireless and satellite standards
- Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
Responsibilities
- Design, adapt, and optimize wireless communication waveforms for autonomous vehicle networking and operator links
- Lead trade studies on modulation, coding, multiple-access and duplexing schemes balancing performance, resilience, and range
- Guide embedded software and FPGA engineers through implementation, verification, and performance optimization
- Collaborate with systems, software, firmware and hardware teams for integration and V&V of end-to-end wireless capabilities
- Analyze and simulate algorithm performance and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide technical approach, work estimates, and resource forecasts for program management
- Support integration activities and reviews; travel approximately 25% for reviews and integration
Education
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Advanced degree (MSEE/PhD) in DSP, communications, or information theory preferred
