- Advanced CAD proficiency with ability to produce industry-standard drawings
- Strong material selection, finishing, and component sizing skills
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Hands-on fabrication, machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing
- Knowledge of contamination control, outgassing, and FOD mitigation
- Thermal management and electro-mechanical integration experience
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills
- Ability to carry hardware from concept to flight/production qualification
Responsibilities
- Design high-precision opto-mechanical and structural hardware for space and imaging applications.
- Develop and prototype infrared sensors and complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Perform testing, qualification, and proof-of-design including preparation of PDR/CDR/TIM materials.
- Define system-level architecture trades and establish performance/error budgets.
- Integrate electronics (motors, controllers, sensors) into mechanical designs and manage thermal/contamination considerations.
- Analyze failures, lead root-cause investigations, and transition successful designs into production.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead small teams, and manage project schedules and budgets.
- Support customer-facing hardware demonstrations and represent technical results to leadership and customers.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required; MS acceptable with equivalent experience
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
