Business Development Director (Tech/Telco)

The Trade Desk is a global technology company powering programmatic media buying; they are seeking a commercially savvy, senior Business Development Director to own and grow 1-2 strategic Technology and Telco client relationships. This person will work cross-functionally with sales, client services, product, and trading teams to drive revenue, influence product roadmap, respond to RFPs, and close large strategic upsell opportunities.

Skills

  • Proven outbound sales or marketing track record in online advertising
  • Deep knowledge of the Technology category and Telco clients
  • Experience with DSPs, ad networks, publishers, ad servers, or related ad tech platforms
  • Strong quantitative and negotiation skills for large global deals
  • Existing relationships with decision makers at agencies and advertisers
  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead consultative, long-term client relationships and close deals

Responsibilities

  • Own representation of 1–2 strategic Technology/Telco client relationships nationally
  • Collaborate with global Sales, Client Services, Trading, Product, and Engineering teams to develop account strategies
  • Establish and deepen relationships with commercial and contracting leads at major advertisers
  • Communicate The Trade Desk’s media buying philosophy and technology value to client stakeholders
  • Participate in product roadmap discussions and convey client needs to senior leadership and product teams
  • Lead RFP responses including qualification, win strategy, and proposal execution
  • Identify and close strategic up-sell opportunities by understanding client business drivers
  • Build strong cross-functional internal partnerships across departments and specialty functions

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred but not required
