Staff Software Engineer, Builder Tools
Skills
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering production-quality internal platforms or developer tooling
- Experience with modern agentic coding tools and defining best practices for their adoption
- Proficiency in one or more languages such as Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or Java
- Experience architecting and scaling workflow automation, CLI tools, GitHub automation, or cloud automation
- Data-informed decision making and experience defining success metrics for developer productivity
- Clear written communication and ability to create documentation that enables self-service
- Cross-functional collaboration and ability to translate ambiguous needs into scalable solutions
Responsibilities
- Lead design, build, and evolution of internal engineering tooling to improve developer flow and reduce friction
- Define best practices and drive adoption of agentic AI coding tools through guidance, automation, and enablement
- Architect, develop, and operate internally facing agents and an internal agent platform ensuring reliability and scalability
- Own developer workflows, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and guidance for safe, effective adoption of new tooling
- Partner with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A to identify high-impact AI and tooling opportunities
- Establish and maintain measurement and feedback loops (usage, reliability, cost, cycle time) to quantify impact and guide prioritization
- Create and maintain documentation, playbooks, and enablement materials to drive adoption of paved roads
- Mentor and support engineers, raising the bar on technical design, execution, and use of AI-enabled tooling
- Participate in on-call rotation and drive operational improvements to reduce burden and improve internal UX
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
