Software Engineer II, Data Platform
Skills
- 3+ years building scalable, distributed systems
- Proficient in at least one language: Scala, Java, or Python
- Experience building or maintaining cloud-based services (AWS preferred; GCP a plus)
- Exposure to event streaming platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS
- Familiarity with distributed processing frameworks (Apache Spark or Apache Flink)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability practices
- Comfortable working in a globally distributed team and participating in on-call rotations
- Experience with data ingestion and ETL/ELT workflows
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality code across the data platform
- Collaborate with global engineering and product teams across multiple time zones
- Support and evolve data cataloging, analytics, and ETL/ELT pipeline capabilities
- Help identify and resolve performance bottlenecks with guidance from senior engineers
- Build and maintain services handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data (audio, video, text, images)
- Participate in on-call rotation and troubleshoot production incidents
- Write and maintain clear platform documentation for internal consumers
- Present work in team demos and represent engineering contributions in internal discussions
- Follow best practices for testing, monitoring, and deployment to ensure reliability
- Continuously learn and adopt new tools, patterns, and technologies for the data platform
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
