Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer
Skills
- Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems
- Experience with SoC/board bring-up and low-level hardware debug
- Strong understanding of CPU architectures (ARM, RISC-V, or similar)
- Knowledge of memory systems (SRAM, DRAM, DDR, caches) and DMA
- Experience with bootloaders, secure boot, and early init sequences
- Familiarity with JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and trace tools
- Device driver development for on-chip peripherals
- RTOS or bare-metal firmware integration
- Collaborating with ASIC/SoC and hardware engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded firmware architecture: boot flows, HAL, drivers, and system services.
- Develop low-level firmware in C/C++ (and assembly as needed) for CPUs, DSPs, and microcontrollers on custom SoCs.
- Implement and maintain bootloaders, secure boot flows, and early hardware initialization.
- Create device drivers for on-chip peripherals (DMA, memory controllers, interconnects, SerDes, ADC/DAC, timers, GPIO).
- Participate in pre-silicon firmware development (RTL simulation/emulation/FPGA prototyping) and validation.
- Support post-silicon bring-up: power-on sequencing, clock/reset init, memory bring-up, peripheral testing.
- Debug hardware/firmware interactions using JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, trace tools, and custom instrumentation.
- Collaborate with SoC architects to refine register/memory maps, interrupts, DMA flows, and debug interfaces.
- Integrate RTOS or bare-metal environments and interface with higher-level system software.
- Develop manufacturing/test firmware, field diagnostics, and ensure long-term maintainability across SoC generations.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field is advantageous but not required
