The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and technical execution of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout across multiple geographic locations. Working under the direction of the Project Manager, this role assists with project documentation, scheduling, and field coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards, contract requirements, and engineering specifications.
Serving as a key link between engineering, project management, and field operations, focuses on technical execution, constructability, and quality to support efficient project delivery. This role requires close collaboration with field leadership, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to maintain project organization, ensure alignment with plans and specifications, and drive successful project outcomes.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Assist the Project Manager with planning, scheduling, and execution of electrical construction projects
· Coordinate project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout packages
· Track project progress, budgets, and cost reports to ensure alignment with project goals
· Support procurement activities, including material tracking and vendor coordination
· Communicate with field teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure project requirements are understood and met
· Maintain accurate and organized project records and documentation
· Assist with job cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
· Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project status
· Support quality control and ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
· Assist in identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies

Supervisory Responsibilities
· None directly; may assist in coordinating field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors as directed.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Position Type and Expected Work Time
Work Environment:
· Combination of office and field environments
· Work is performed primarily on active construction sites with ongoing electrical and general construction activities
· Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity
· Exposure to typical construction site conditions such as noise, dust, vibration, and moving equipment
· May work near energized equipment, elevated work areas, excavations, and confined or restricted spaces in compliance
with OSHA safety procedures
· Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and other environmental conditions common to construction sites
· Work will require travel between multiple project sites
Physical Requirements:
· Frequently walk active construction sites, including uneven surfaces and unfinished structures
· Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, or temporary access systems in compliance with OSHA requirements
· Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, or reach as necessary to observe work activities and inspect conditions
· Ability to communicate effectively with employees and subcontractors in person and over the phone or radio
· Occasionally lift, carry, or move materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without assistance
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility
clothing, and fall protection equipment when required

Shift Details:
· Primarily a day-shift role
· Occasional adjustments to start/end times may be required

Required Education and Experience
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
· Equivalent electrical field experience may substitute for formal education
Certifications/Licenses:
· Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to project sites
· OSHA 30 Certification
· First Aid / CPR / AED preferred
Experience Requirements:
· 2+ years of experience in construction, electrical contracting, or project coordination
· Basic understanding of construction project lifecycle, scheduling, and cost control
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with construction/project management software preferred
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Experience in electrical construction or related trade preferred
· Exposure to BIM/VDC coordination and project scheduling tools preferred
· Knowledge of procurement processes and subcontractor coordination preferred

· Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vest, and fall protection

· Mobile devices (smartphone, tablet) for inspections, reporting, and communication
· Laptop or desktop computer for documentation, reports, and safety tracking

· Two-way radios for jobsite communication
· Access equipment such as ladders, lifts, and scaffolding (for observation and inspection purposes only)
