- 15+ years of software engineering with proven Principal/Distinguished-level impact in complex, scaling environments.
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture and distributed systems patterns (consistency, fault tolerance, event-driven design).
- Practical experience with Domain-Driven Design and service decomposition strategies.
- Platform engineering experience building internal developer platforms and reducing cognitive load.
- Fluency with platform and engineering productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE) and FinOps/cloud cost modeling.
- Strong facilitation, influence, and stakeholder communication skills across engineering and executive teams.
- Experience using ADRs/RFCs, prototyping to de-risk decisions, and mentoring senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead architectural modernization toward a distributed, DDD-informed architecture while avoiding premature over-engineering.
- Apply Conway's Law and execute the Inverse Conway Maneuver to align team structure with desired system boundaries.
- Define and drive the internal developer platform strategy, delivering a Thinnest Viable Platform to reduce developer cognitive load.
- Create scalable knowledge-transfer frameworks (RFCs, ADRs) and mentor Staff/Principal engineers to enable asynchronous decision-making.
- Translate technical debt, constraints, and architectural decisions into financial and operational risk for executive stakeholders.
- Quantify TCO for build vs. buy decisions and guide prioritization based on business impact.
- Embed with engineering teams to validate architectures through shared implementation and feedback.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
