Skills
- Extensive hands-on AWS and GCP experience in performance-sensitive environments
- Deep cloud networking expertise: VPC design, routing, hybrid connectivity, traffic control
- Terraform at scale and infrastructure-as-code best practices
- Experience with GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, sole-tenant nodes) and GCP IAM/Organization policies
- Designing low-latency compute placement and locality-aware scheduling
- Observability and monitoring across clouds (Cloud Monitoring/Logging/Tracing, Prometheus, etc.)
- Experience supporting electronic trading or other low-latency systems
- Knowledge of exchange API security, WebSocket market data, and crypto threat vectors
Responsibilities
- Own architecture and operation of cloud infrastructure supporting latency-sensitive trading systems across the firm
- Design VPC and network topologies with explicit routing, isolation, and traffic control
- Partner with network teams to design highly available, latency-optimized global connectivity (Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, VPN, Transit Gateway)
- Define compute placement strategies, including placement groups and locality-aware scheduling
- Build and maintain shared platform capabilities for firm-wide self-service
- Lead migration planning and execution for CME colocation workloads to GCP, ensuring continuity for latency-sensitive operations
- Extend Terraform IaC standards to GCP and establish cross-cloud observability
- Serve as primary escalation for cloud incidents and own detection-through-resolution
- Design secure, low-latency exchange connectivity for crypto and a DDoS-resilient perimeter
- Define observability standards and own the cloud layer of monitoring and alerting
- Mentor engineers and establish infrastructure standards across teams
- Own FinOps visibility and cost optimization frameworks across trading and research workloads
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree preferred but not required
