AI Growth Specialist (BDR)

Descript builds simple, AI-powered audio and video editing tools used by creators, teams, and enterprises. The company is hiring an early-to-mid level AI Growth Specialist (BDR) to own top-of-funnel outbound prospecting, qualify opportunities, and create predictable pipeline handed off to Account Executives while working closely with Marketing, CS, and Product.

Skills

  • Proven outbound prospecting and meeting-generation experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication for crisp outreach and discovery
  • Comfort with high-activity, metrics-driven sales environments
  • Experience using CRM and sales engagement platforms
  • Ability to learn product systems and identify targets in customer databases
  • Coachability, grit, and curiosity to iterate quickly on feedback

Responsibilities

  • Drive outbound prospecting via email, phone, LinkedIn, and inbound follow-up to generate qualified meetings.
  • Execute targeted cadences that balance personalization and scale and own the top-of-funnel for assigned segments.
  • Qualify opportunities using MEDDPICC and maintain a healthy pipeline for AE hand-offs.
  • Hit weekly and monthly activity and pipeline targets (calls, emails, meetings, SQLs).
  • Use CRM and sales engagement tools (Salesforce, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Unify) to track activity and funnel metrics.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to test and optimize messaging, campaigns, and inbound conversion flows.
  • Share buyer insights, competitive signals, and feature requests with Product and GTM teams.
  • Contribute to evolving playbooks and onboarding materials for future SDR hires.

Education

  • No specific degree required; BA/BS preferred or equivalent experience
  • Relevant coursework or training in business, communications, or sales is a plus
