Senior Software Engineer, Simulation Platform
Skills
- Professional C++20 expertise (templates, move semantics, smart pointers, framework-level design)
- Experience designing internal APIs and frameworks with backwards-compatibility and ergonomics in mind
- Systems programming fundamentals: memory management, shared libraries, ABI stability, linking
- Performance reasoning: cache behavior, memory layout, algorithmic complexity
- Comfort with linear algebra and applied math for simulation work
- Familiarity with Linux-based C++ development toolchains and debugging/profiling tools
- Clear technical communication and ability to work in a large, shared codebase
Responsibilities
- Optimize and scale the real-time simulation loop for hundreds of concurrent entities with attention to memory layout, cache behavior, and contention
- Design, implement, and maintain the custom Entity-Component-System architecture: entity lifecycle, component storage, system registration, and update loop
- Maintain a versioned C ABI and plugin/SDK surface so internal and external teams can extend the simulator
- Implement and maintain integration layers (gRPC services, DIS interoperability, networking messaging, file recording/playback)
- Collaborate with domain experts to integrate new models and enhance existing capability models
- Drive API and framework decisions with emphasis on ergonomics, backwards compatibility, and developer experience
- Diagnose performance issues using profiling and low-level systems reasoning; perform code reviews and mentor team members on platform patterns
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
