Skills
- 3+ years operating robotic systems at-sea in commercial or research offshore settings
- Experience leading deck operations with ship cranes, A-frames, or dedicated LARS systems
- Comfortable with Linux and command-line interfaces; ability to assist with software debugging
- Electronics troubleshooting and basic test equipment usage
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel for data logging and analysis
- Excellent communication and customer support skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong documentation habits
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and deploy up to 50% of the time
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Top Secret security clearance
Responsibilities
- Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain AUV platforms during field operations
- Lead local day-to-day AUV operations including pre-mission testing, launch/recovery, vehicle tasking, and post-mission data analysis
- Deploy globally in support of at-sea AUV operations from multiple vessel types (~50% travel)
- Write, review, and execute sea test plans and author detailed operational test reports
- Coordinate test execution with vendors, partners, and logistics providers
- Support software UI design and generate user documentation (user guides, mission planning guides)
- Conduct routine design reviews to improve operability and inform next-generation AUV features
- Lead multiple nearshore sea test days per week from Quincy, MA
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications valued
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, robotics, ocean engineering, or related field preferred but not required
