What We Want
The Program Coordinator II in the Routh First-Generation Center within the Office for Student Success will lead the university-wide First-Generation High-Impact Learning Experience Program. This university initiative aims to support retention, graduation, and engagement efforts for first-generation students to better prepare them for post-graduation plans. The role manages program operations, events, materials, web content, and assessment while providing a student-centered approach. The ideal candidate stays current with educational research, coordinates cross-unit collaboration effectively across campus, and fosters a supportive environment.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Other Requirements and Factors: 

  • Ability to work on campus in a location other than assigned office when required.

  • Some evening & weekend work may be required.

  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of experience in student success, student development, or related work in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite of tools, experience with web and email technology, experience using databases, and ability to learn new technology quickly.

  • Proficiency with COMPASS/Banner, and other student analytic platforms (e.g., EAB).

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Duties/Tasks

Program Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation

  • Coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of programs, resources, and workshops for students and other stakeholders.

  • Coordinates institution-wide student tracking efforts and collaborates with colleges/schools and departments to identify ways to make programs and services accessible to undergraduate students.

  • Creates, promotes, and delivers student success programs.

  • Utilizes various reports, student outreach, and other campus relationships to help identify students that need to reconnect.

  • Collaborates with colleges/schools and departments on student high-impact practices.

  • Creates a communication plan and timeline for students.

  • Assess and reports student data and findings to respective university and college/school leaders.

  • Develops, maintains, and delivers accurate, up-to-date reports on a weekly basis, ensuring consistent availability for campus stakeholders.

  • Uses EAB Navigate features to identify students who may need additional support and works with college/schools and their success teams and maintains notes.

  • Uses COMPASS/Banner to support student success.

  • Serves as a liaison to college/schools and student success teams.

  • Prepares and completes reports related to student persistence and success.

  • Monitors and documents student progress in the dedicated Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure timely completion of scholarship requirements.

  • Proactively intervenes as needed to prevent students from entering scholarship probation.

Campus and Student Engagement

  • Provides student support services, including individualized meetings or presentations, to current undergraduate students, faculty, staff, administrators, and resource providers on a case-by-case basis.

  • Monitors student progress and fosters retention of students through mentoring, monitoring of student grades, and other support programs.

Administrative

  • Assists in preparation and monitoring of the implementation and delivery of programs and events within the Routh First-Generation Center.

  • Provides support to other units within the Office of Student Success.
