We’re seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join the Subscriptions Team and help build and evolve Strava’s subscription and checkout experiences. You will work on the Android surfaces that power our free to paid journey, including paywalls, purchase flows, and Google Play Store integrations, reaching millions of athletes around the world. This work is central to Strava’s growth and gives you meaningful ownership over highly visible product experiences.
You will also collaborate daily with product, design, analytics, and marketing partners, and work alongside Strava’s broader Android community through shared architecture reviews, code reviews, pair programming, and our active Android guild. We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco office — three days per week.
Own Android on the Subscriptions team — set the technical direction and ship features that reach millions of athletes
Accelerate Strava’s Subscription growth through lifecycle experimentation on upsells, checkout and more
Maintain and advance our Google Play Billing integration, ensuring business-critical flows are stable and consistent
Work closely with product and design to ship polished features in small, deliberate increments
Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming, and set the bar for Android quality across the company
Use the latest AI tools to find faster, smarter ways to build and ship software
Are a strong Kotlin engineer with production Android experience; familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Room is a plus
Are familiar with Android Studio, emulation, and have experience designing and consuming REST or GraphQL APIs
Stay up to date and experiment with the latest Android technologies — from new Jetpack libraries to evolving Kotlin features and Material 3
Have a product-focused mindset. Our team works together to deliver projects that use technology to solve real business problems.
Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between.
Have experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques.
Can collaborate with our iOS, Android, and Server engineers in order to ship features.
