Can’t find the company name? It’s not you, it’s us! We’re really excited about the potential of our technology, product, and mission, and have chosen to remain in stealth mode. If the job description piques your interest, please apply. If your skillset is aligned with what we’re looking for, the team will reach out to schedule your interview and tell you a bit more about us (ie. who we are).
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to drive process development
of a novel battery technology. In this role, you will design, execute, and analyze experiments to
deepen our understanding of process-design-material interactions and work with a cross-functional team to realize process improvements.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, has a first-principles approach, and thrives in a fast-paced
environment where you will directly contribute to the factory ramp.
Process Development & Scaling: Invent, characterize, and optimize battery
manufacturing processes (e.g., electrode coating, calendering, assembly, cell assembly,
formation, or testing).
Hands-on Experimentation: Perform proof-of-concept tests to green-light new materials, methods, and equipment. Build prototypes and run pilot line experiments.
Data Analysis: Use data analysis tools (Python, SQL, JMP, Minitab, or Tableau) to
analyze process capabilities, establish SPC (Statistical Process Control) limits, and
improve yield.
Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose issues found during cell manufacturing, driving root
cause identification and corrective action using structured methods (DMAIC, 5 Whys,
8D).
Equipment Commissioning: Assist in the installation, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test),
and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) of new automated manufacturing equipment.
Documentation: Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions (MI), PFMEAs, and
Control Plans to define process standards for production teams.
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a
related field.
1-3 years of hands-on experience in an R&D lab or manufacturing facility (prior
experience in batteries or semiconductors is a major plus).
Proficiency in experiment design, statistical data analysis (JMP, Python, Matlab), and
data visualization/representation.
Knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia) .
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a desire to work in a high-expectation, fast-paced
environment.
Ability to communicate clearly and work cross-functionally with quality, production, and
design teams.
You are a fast learner and adjust quickly to new learnings and opportunities.
You are both comfortable working in ambiguity and capable of maintaining focus on important details.
You are looking for a role in a fast-growing startup.
Onsite Expectations
Given the nature of the work and team this role is is expected to be onsite 5 days a week.
Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $185,000
Base salary is determined based on many factors such as: market rate, candidate experience, interview performance, and geographic location.
