EMC/EMI Test Technician
Skills
- Hands-on EMC/EMI testing experience (emission and immunity)
- Experience fabricating test fixtures, harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Proficiency using spectrum analyzers, VNAs, oscilloscopes, and high-power amplifiers
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Troubleshooting complex electrical and test rack issues with minimal supervision
- Basic scripting (Python) for test logging and control and CAD drafting for fixtures
- Familiarity with antenna and shielding measurements and semi-anechoic chamber practices
- Ability to author and redline clear test and build procedures
Responsibilities
- Perform EMC/EMI emission and immunity testing of electrical systems and components
- Operate and maintain test equipment including spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power meters, amplifiers, and oscilloscopes
- Design and fabricate electro-mechanical assemblies, harnesses, and test fixtures from conceptual drawings
- Perform antenna and shielding effectiveness measurements and document results
- Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and controlled documentation
- Independently perform verifications, troubleshoot complex issues, and clearly document findings
- Support engineers and test management on standardized testing and R&D projects
- Maintain test facilities, oversee calibration processes, and support lab accreditation efforts
Education
- Associate's degree in an electronics discipline OR equivalent direct work experience
- 2+ years of direct work experience in electronics testing or related field
