What’s the role
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in energy and technology, and a passion for delivering products for a growing company.
The Demand Response Market Analyst will be responsible for the execution of daily processes within the Demand Response team. Responsibilities include day ahead and real time ISO interactions on behalf of market participants, such as energy and ancillary service scheduling, trade entry, asset operations, and analysis/reporting of market results. This role will also play a critical part in designing and implementing future automation initiatives to improve Shell’s interactions with customers and ISOs.
The ideal candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following markets: CAISO, ISONE, NYISO, MISO, or PJM. Reporting to the VP of Demand Response Operations, the role requires a self-motivated, dedicated, and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.
Accountabilities:
Day ahead and real-time scheduling of portfolio resources
Interact with customers to validate and enter daily market submissions
Learn and remain current on market design changes and impacts on operations
Manage ongoing participation of assets in Demand Response markets
Provide timely and accurate daily and monthly reporting to customers
Support business development activities and other ad hoc projects as needed
Design and document procedures for internal controls, procedures, and policies around operations and departmental activities with a constant focus on process improvement
Other duties as assigned
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or technical discipline preferred
At least 3 years' experience to energy market operations, analytical support, or operational processes in a professional environment
Experience in market operations and market dynamics in 2 or more ISOs such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, and CAISO
Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel skills
VBA/SQL or other programing languages a plus
General knowledge of wholesale energy markets
Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
Ability to have face to face conversations with co-workers and higher-level managers
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysis
Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats
Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs
Organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail
Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge
Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $86,000 - $128,000 per year. As pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
