Skills
- Strong engineering fundamentals in statics and mechanics of materials
- Experience with process improvement and factory layout/design
- Knowledge of fastening, joining, drilling, trim operations, machining, and inspection methods
- Proficiency with GD&T and geometric inspection techniques
- Demonstrated ability to support complex assemblies and make risk-based production decisions
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback to structures and design teams during development and prototype/flight builds
- Support and clear barriers on the shop floor for primary structure assembly work centers to keep production moving
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, reliability teams, production staff, and vendors
- Develop and maintain work instructions, specifications, and best practices for high-fidelity assembly processes
- Champion and implement process improvements across multiple work centers to improve assembly operations and scalability
- Incorporate lessons learned from initial Terran R builds to standardize manufacturing processes
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 2+ years of progressive, relevant manufacturing or assembly engineering experience
