Skills
- Expert-level Python with production experience
- Experience in at least one additional language (Go, C++, or similar)
- Strong background in distributed systems and backend architecture
- Cloud platform knowledge (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerized deployments
- Experience with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL) and message brokers (Kafka, SQS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, testing strategies, and observability tooling
- API design, service boundaries, and message-driven workflows
- On-call and reliability engineering experience
- Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture decisions for major components and cross-team integrations
- Design, deliver, and operate distributed backend services end-to-end
- Mentor and guide engineers through design reviews, pairing, and coaching
- Ensure reliability, observability, security, and performance across production systems
- Define and improve engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling
- Collaborate with product and cross-functional partners to influence technical direction and roadmap
- Own critical services including on-call rotation, monitoring, and incident response
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve robustness and developer experience
Education
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
