Senior Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Engineer
Skills
- Experience implementing attitude control and estimation algorithms on spacecraft
- Experience with GNC actuator/sensor sizing, selection, and system-level design
- Demonstrated experience with verification and validation of GNC software using 6-DOF simulation and HITL/HIL testing
- Proficiency in Python, Julia, C/C++, or Matlab for algorithm development and simulation
- Background in controls analysis (time and frequency domain) and spacecraft dynamics
Responsibilities
- Define and validate high-level GNC architecture with cross-functional engineering leads
- Design and implement guidance, attitude control, and orbit/attitude estimation algorithms
- Perform actuator and sensor sizing and selection for GNC subsystems
- Develop slewing and precise pointing algorithms for large, flexible spacecraft structures
- Create and maintain simulation and modeling tools including mission design, controls analysis, and 6-DOF simulation
- Execute Verification & Validation plans for the GNC stack to achieve flight readiness
- Contribute code to the 6-DOF simulator and own portions of the GNC flight software
- Support autonomous orbit raise development and navigation for MEO transfers
- Support launch and on-orbit operations and iterate on block upgrades informed by flight data
- Recruit, mentor, and grow the GNC engineering team
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (required)
- Master’s or PhD in relevant discipline preferred
- Ability to meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR U.S. Person) or eligibility for federal export license
