Skills
- Strong backend engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Proficiency in Python or demonstrated backend experience with a willingness to learn Python.
- Experience designing relational data models and working with databases at scale.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with API design, distributed systems, and backend performance tuning.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies (React, Next.js/Vite, TypeScript, Tailwind).
- Ability to use AI tooling to aid coding and deployment productivity.
- Strong communication, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate scalable backend services and APIs that support user-facing and growth systems.
- Model relational data and optimize database schemas and queries for performance at scale.
- Drive architecture and reliability improvements for distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, data, and operations to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to a healthy, inclusive engineering culture.
- Use AI-assisted tooling to improve productivity in coding and deployment workflows.
- Establish and improve testing, debugging, and observability practices to ensure high quality and uptime.
- Identify process inefficiencies and lead actionable improvements across the team.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced degree preferred but not required.
