Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Backend Services | US | Remote
Skills
- Strong backend development experience, ideally using Go
- Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres, SQLite)
- Experience shipping projects end-to-end from requirements to production
- Familiarity with operating services and being on-call
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and performant software
- Experience mentoring engineers and working in asynchronous, remote teams
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD practices
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and iterate on backend features and APIs for Grafana services
- Author and review design documents and proposals for upcoming work
- Contribute to and collaborate on open-source projects related to the platform
- Operate and take ownership of services, including participating in on-call rotations
- Mentor and support engineers across the squad and participate in design discussions
- Collaborate with other squads across the Grafana Division to align roadmaps and delivery
- Improve developer productivity through tooling, automation, and pragmatic AI-assisted workflows
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred
- Relevant demonstrable experience can substitute for formal degree requirements
