We are seeking a Waste Management Specialist to join our team supporting the Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Responsibilities
Perform duties in support of the Waste Management Program.
Prepare documentation to support waste management and operations of waste and weapon components.
Provide support to Process Engineering through review of programmatic weapon procedures for proper waste accumulation and processing.
Provide support to Subcontractor Construction Management through completion of characterization documents including approval of Construction Waste Management Plans.
Support subcontractor personnel in proper waste management practices.
Provide support of assessments/audits (both internal and external) of Waste Management Program.
Develop/revise procedures as needed to assure continuity of operations and provide process improvement.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, a scientific discipline, or related technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience in waste management, environmental compliance, or waste transportation.
Citizenship – Must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – Must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Must have proven experience and demonstrated proficiency in wastewater treatment and liquid waste management.
Experience will include radioactive and hazardous waste characterization, packaging, storage, and disposition in accordance with RCRA, TSCA, DOE Order 435.1, and DOT regulations.
Must coordinate with waste generator organizations and personnel for the acceptance or rejection of waste streams.

The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium.
