We are seeking a Fire Protection Design Engineer to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
Knowledge of Fire Sprinkler System design.
Implement programs and procedures to ensure employee and facility safety is in accordance with all OSHA, NFPA and Life Safety Code requirements.
Prepare, interpret, maintain, and incorporate requirements of technical drawings and operating documents.
Coordinate verification and validation of documents with technical and operations personnel prior to release for approval and implementation.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration/Prevention, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution. and 5+ years of relevant experience.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Five or more years of progressive and relevant experience in Fire Sprinkler System Design.
Experience implementing programs and procedures to ensure employee and facility safety is in accordance with all OSHA, NFPA, and Life Safety Code requirements.
Ability to plan, self-perform tasks, and multi-task on multiple projects.
Ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word and utilize automated workflow systems.
Must be able to coordinate verification and validation of documents with technical and operations personnel prior to release for approval and implementation.
Ability to develop and maintain historical information.
Ability to prepare, interpret, maintain, and incorporate requirements of technical drawings and operating documents.
Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process.
Desired Skills
A Professional Engineering License (PE).
Proficiency using hydraulic calculation software (HASS, etc).
DOE work experience.
