New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) helps New Yorkers before, during, and after emergencies through preparedness, education, and response. NYCEM is responsible for coordinating citywide emergency planning and response for all types and scales of emergencies. We are staffed by more than 200 dedicated professionals with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise, including individuals assigned from other City agencies.
LOGISTICS
The Logistics division works to increase the City’s ability to support emergency operations with a sustained and well- coordinated supply chain of resources. It is comprised of the Humanitarian Logistics and the Supply Chain Logistics units, and works to ensure that the right personnel, equipment, supplies, and support are in the right place, at the right time, and in the right quantities, across all response and recovery operations.
US&R
Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) is the process of locating, extricating, and providing medical treatment to victims trapped because of structural collapses and other natural or man-made catastrophes. National US&R consists of 28 task forces located throughout the country. NYCEM sponsors one of these 28 teams: New York Task Force One.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Logistics Coordinator provides logistical coordination and expertise in support of the NY-TF1 Cache Manager, Fleet Manager, and Logistics Managers.
The selected candidate helps ensure that NY-TF1’s equipment, fleet, and warehouse remain operational, organized, serviced, and deployment ready at all times.

Fleet and Equipment Coordination
- Assist the Fleet Manager with maintaining fleet records and preventive maintenance tracking
- Transport vehicles to and from vendors for servicing
- Operate NY-TF1 vehicles, including tractor-trailers and medium/heavy-duty vehicles
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment including tools, generators, and small engines
Receiving and Inventory Control
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming deliveries and shipments
- Receive, inspect, document, and properly store equipment and supplies
- Maintain organized storage areas and ensure deployment-ready configuration
- Assist in maintaining inventory, including the NY-TF1 uniform cache
- Coordinate with the Cache Manager on restocking, deficiency tracking, and equipment readiness
Facility and Operations Support
- Run point on maintaining organized and operational workspace within NY-TF1 facilities
- Provide building access monitoring as required
- Support training, exercises, and deployments
- Assist during Alert, Activation, Deployment, and Demobilization operations
- Perform strenuous physical labor when required, including lifting, loading, and equipment movement
Special Projects
- Provide direct support to the NY-TF1 Cache Manager, Fleet Manager, and Logistics Managers projects as requested
- Assist with special projects and operational initiatives as assigned
- Apply creative problem-solving to resolve logistical challenges, particularly in time-sensitive or high-pressure environments

- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required

- Valid Commercial Driver’s Permit with combination endorsement and air brake endorsement at time of hire
- A valid Class A CDL must be obtained within one year of appointment.
- Funding - This position is supported through a federal Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) cooperative agreement with a multi-year period of performance, funded through annual awards.[BS1.1]

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: emergency management, fire, police, or military service, public safety, public health, public administration, urban planning, engineering, or another specialized area to which the appointment is to be made; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full time professional experience in the areas listed in "1" above; or
3. A master's degree from an accredited college in emergency management, public administration, urban planning, engineering, economics, political science, the physical sciences ,or related field and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas listed “1" above, at least two years of which must have been in one of those areas, or another specialized area to which the appointment is to be made.
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in ""1"" above.
