Category Manager of Protein Solutions

Fresh Alliance, a Buyers Edge Platform brand, delivers procurement services and high-performance contracts for distributors and foodservice operators focused on fresh products. We are seeking a results-driven Category Manager of Protein Solutions to lead sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations, and cost optimization across beef, pork, poultry and seafood while ensuring product quality and operational efficiency.

Skills

Procurement and strategic sourcing in protein categories
Supplier relationship management and contract negotiation
Strong Excel and PowerPoint proficiency for analysis and presentations
Commodity intelligence and market driver interpretation
Inventory management, forecasting and data normalization
Excellent verbal and written communication
Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management

Responsibilities

Implement and standardize sourcing processes across Beef, Pork, Poultry and Seafood
Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with existing and new suppliers
Define and document product specifications, yield charts and all cost inputs
Analyze customer data to deliver risk management, muscle/raw material optimization and logistics efficiencies
Present Protein Solutions value proposition and market intelligence in new business opportunities
Conduct quarterly supplier business reviews and develop supplier scorecards
Monitor commodity markets and contribute to risk management strategies
Collaborate with customer operations to drive program compliance and resolve supplier issues
Coordinate with pricing and order guide teams to ensure accurate data flow
Support Business Development to grow the Protein Solutions pipeline

Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred (Meat Science, Supply Chain Management or related field)
Relevant industry experience may substitute for formal degree
