Technical Lead, Turboshaft

Archer is an aerospace company in San Jose developing an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft focused on sustainable urban air mobility. We are seeking a Technical Lead, Turboshaft to own the turboshaft in a complex hybrid powertrain/turbogenerator system, lead a multidisciplinary turboshaft team, drive design optimization, testing, and certification, and coordinate integration across mechanical and systems engineering teams.

Skills

  • Extensive turboshaft and gas turbine design expertise
  • Engine control system design and implementation
  • Experience with Part-33 / CS-E certification standards
  • Systems integration and cross-discipline coordination
  • Test planning, verification, and certification program management
  • Strong technical writing and stakeholder communication
  • Use of industry-standard tools, modeling, and simulation workflows

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive turboshaft development within a hybrid powertrain/turbogenerator architecture
  • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary turboshaft team (fuel, turbine design, exhaust, thermal, controls)
  • Define turboshaft sub-systems and integration requirements for mechanical and systems engineers
  • Plan and direct turboshaft testing, verification, and certification programs
  • Manage technical, certification, program, and integration risks to meet program milestones
  • Optimize turboshaft design for integrated unit-level performance and manufacturability
  • Define development strategy for turboshaft, turbogenerator, and wider hybrid-powertrain approach
  • Produce comprehensive technical reports and communicate complex rationale to stakeholders

Education

  • BS, MS, or PhD in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering/science field
