Mapping Operations Lead
Skills
- 3+ years in HD map production or geospatial data operations
- Experience leading or coordinating technical contributors in a production environment
- Strong familiarity with HD map formats (OpenDRIVE, NDS, or lane-level schemas) and annotation pipelines
- Experience with point cloud data, 3D visualization, or LiDAR annotation tools
- Working knowledge of simulation environments (CARLA, LGSVL, or internal stacks)
- Comfort with data tooling such as SQL, Python, C++, and QGIS; AI skills are a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication and calm, organized problem-solving under pressure
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of mapping specialists; run daily standups and triage sessions
- Own weekly and sprint-level production calendar for concurrent map builds and updates
- Triage map and data issues, create follow-up tasks, and route to maps/engineering for resolution
- Establish and enforce labeling, QC, acceptance criteria, and documentation standards
- Build and maintain a triage playbook to classify and resolve common map issues
- Coordinate with engineers to validate map accuracy in simulation and close gaps prior to release
- Close the loop with operations and safety teams so field feedback improves map quality
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (computer science, GIS, robotics, engineering) or equivalent experience
