Job Description

X Energy, LLC is seeking a Technical Accounting Lead to serve as the organization's subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, with emphasis on revenue recognition, contract accounting, and technical GAAP application. This position will analyze complex transactions, develop technical accounting position papers, and provide authoritative guidance on accounting treatment for significant contracts and non-routine transactions. The Technical Accounting Lead will work cross-functionally with Contracts, Legal, Business Development, and Project Management teams to ensure proper accounting treatment is determined early in the business cycle. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of X-energy's financial reporting as the company scales operations across multiple first-of-a-kind nuclear energy projects.


 

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex contracts to determine proper accounting treatment under US GAAP
  • Develop technical accounting memoranda documenting complex accounting conclusions
  • Lead the contract review and approval process for new agreements, amendments, and change orders to identify accounting implications before execution
  • Research accounting guidance (FASB Codification, SEC guidance, AICPA resources) for novel or non-routine transactions and establish X-energy's technical accounting policy positions
  • Execute high-complexity technical accounting close tasks including SBC expense recognition and capitalization assessments
  • Review complex journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by GL Accountants
  • Collaborate with Contracts, Legal, and Business Development during deal structuring to advise on accounting impacts of proposed commercial terms
  • Develop technical accounting checklists, templates, and internal guidance documents to streamline contract accounting workflows
  • Train and mentor Senior and GL Accountants on complex accounting standards and X-energy-specific policies

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • The skill required for this role are typically demonstrated by 7 plus years of relevant experience.
  • 3 – 7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • CPA required (or active progress toward completion)
  • Public accounting or public company experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of ASC 340-40 (Contract Costs), ASC 450 (Contingencies), ASC 606 (Revenue) and ASC 842 (Leases)
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders and develop audit-ready technical memoranda.

Location: 530 Gaither Road, Rockville, MD.

Work Site Expectations: 3 days in office.
Travel Expectations: Up to 5% as needed.
Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri.

Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).  Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them.  Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions.  Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives. 

A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:

$95,780 - $159,633
